Pressure Washing
Definition of pressure washing:
Verb. 1. A process or system using pressurized water (1000-5000 psi) for cleaning, paint and grime removal, demolition, and other applications; “we are pressure washing the house”
Now that we have defined pressure washing we can explain why what we do may not even be considered pressure washing (better terminology may be power washing).
At Charleston Pro Wash we use as low as pressure as possible to clean your home because it is safest way. Most in the industry call it Soft Washing. What is meant by soft washing is the use of pressure under 1000 psi (pound per square inch). Now that is much safer than using over 1000 psi but it still may not be safe enough for some of the exterior surfaces of your home. When we are power washing the exterior of your home most times our pressure is set at 100 psi or below. When we are cleaning surfaces that can be damaged our pressure washing equipment is set to pressure not much higher than a garden hose (Our pressure washers can hold their hand in front of the wand to prove it is safe).
There are many places where high pressure washing is needed and power washing is just not going to get the job done correctly.
Driveways and sidewalks are good example of were power washing may not be good enough. The use of higher pressure and walk behind surface cleaners are going to produce the best results in a short period of time saving you money. But do not be fooled, those surfaces can be damaged by the misuse of some unqualified pressure washers. If an unqualified power washer blasts away at concrete with high enough pressure washing equipment he can do damage to it. That is why at Charleston Pro Wash we use only the necessary pressure washing equipment and pressure.
